It is important to understand that we all are “created in God’s image”, that is to say, we are triune in nature. We all have a body, a spirit and a soul.
Our “body” is self-
(Please note: the terms spirit and soul are often thought of as being the same thing or sometimes the words are inter-
When Adam & Eve rebelled against God, sin corrupted them and the entire human race. The process of death began in them and their offspring. Every part of their being was negatively impacted: body, spirit and soul. All three human components were separated from God.
When people accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour they become regenerated, hence the term “born again”. They receive a new “spirit”. Their soul is now claimed by God. The promise of a bodily resurrection secures a new, perfected and eternal body to come!
Today there are two types of people living on the planet Earth: the unsaved, (represented in these illustrations as gray stick figures) and the saved, (represented in these illustrations as colorful stick figures).
When the saved die their spirits and souls are taken to be in the presence of God. The spirits and souls of the unsaved are taken to “Hell” to await the Final Judgment. The bodies of the saved and unsaved both go to the grave.
During the coming “Rapture” of the Church off the planet, the bodies of the saved will be resurrected to be reunited with their spirits and souls. The unsaved will remain in Hell to await the Final Judgement.
The bodies of the departed saved will be raised “incorruptible”, that is to say: healed, made whole, perfected, prepared to spend eternity with God and each other.
Those who are saved and alive on the planet Earth during the Rapture will also be healed, made whole, perfected, and prepared to spend eternity with God and each other.
In the Rapture both the saved living and the resurrected dead in Christ will be transported to the presence of God. The unsaved living will remain on the planet. The unsaved dead will remain in Hell, both to await the Final Judgment.
God desires that all people would come to Him to receive salvation; however, it is up to each individual to make the decision to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour! We can’t earn salvation, it is a gift from God, we must humbly ask for it. Ignoring God is no excuse; no one else can vouch for us. God doesn’t send people to Hell, people chose for themselves to reject Him and salvation! Once we die, our eternal destiny is sealed; there’s no second chance.
Those who are saved will inherit an eternal new Heaven: Zion, a glorious city! They will also inhabit a new Earth. It will be created: holy, pure and incorruptible. The unsaved, Satan and the demons will be cast into the “Lake of Fire”, which in turn, will be banished from the presence of God forever.

The following picture panels below help explain what happens when someone dies today in this world. Each panel has a brief explanation to the right. They begin by explaining our nature of having three components to our being; the body the soul and the spirit. They then display the dynamics of death for the spiritually saved and the unsaved. They also show what happens to people during the coming Rapture of the Church and the Final Judgment.
